Geçtiğimiz Ocak ayında Bulgaristan'a kısa bir yolculuk yaptım. Hedefim ülkenin kuzeyindeki göllerde her yıl kışlayan çok sayıdaki sibirya (Branta ruficollis), küçük sakarca (Anser erythropus) ve sakarca (Anser albifrons) kazlarının yarattığı görsel şöleni izleyip fotoğraflamaktı. Ayrıca bölgeyi her kış çok sayıda yırtıcının ziyaret ettiğinden de bahsediliyordu. Bu da beni bir yırtıcı kuş sever olarak ümitlendirmişti. Ancak sıcak geçen kışla beraber yırtıcı kuş türü sayısındaki azalış ve zayıf rehberlik hizmeti bende hayal kırıklığı yarattı. Sonuç olarak Bulgaristan'da çekebildiğim işe yarar tek yırtıcı karesi bu puhu (Bubo bubo) fotoğrafı oldu. Sabah saatlerinde kuşun yaşadığı bölgeye geldiğimizde bir başka tur grubunun kuşu bulmuş olduğunu gördük. Mesafe oldukça fazlaydı ve kuş o kadar iyi kamufle olmuştu ki ben bir süre yerini belirleyemedim. Neyse ki diğer grup rehberinin yardımıyla birkaç kare çekmeyi başardım. Daha önce pek çok yerde arayıp bulamadığım bir türü görüp uzaktan da olsa fotoğrafını çekmek yine de güzel bir duyguydu. Aynı günün akşamı türün farklı bir üyesini daha başka bir bölgede teleskopla izleme fırsatımız oldu. Ancak güneş batmak üzereydi ve bu nedenle fotoğraf çekme imkanım olmadı sadece “digiscoping” yaptım.

A very short birding trip in Bulgaria.

I made a short trip to Bulgaria last january. My goal was to watch and photograph the visual feast created by the numerous red breasted (Branta ruficollis), lesser white fronted (Anser erythropus) and white fronted (Anser albifrons) geese that migrate to the lakes in the north of the country every year. There was also a possibility of seeing some birds of prey coming to the region in winter periods. This was also excited me as a raptor-lover. However, as well as the decrease in the number of birds of prey due to the warm winter conditions the poor guidance disappointed me. Therefore, my birding trip has turned from short to very short. As a result, this was the only bird of prey photo I could take in Bulgaria. When we arrived at the area where the eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo) lived, like 9 am, we saw that another tour group found the bird. The bird was quite distant and well camouflaged. So I couldn't find it for a while. Fortunately I was able to shoot a few frames with the help of the other group’s guide. It was nice to watch a raptor that I was looking for in many places but could not see. In the evening of the same day, we had the opportunity to watch another member of the species in another region with a telescope. I could not take a photo due to the lack of light but made “digiscoping”.
